<div>I am emailing as a supporter of Campaign for Better Transport – the UK’s largest public transport charity and campaigning organisation. Recently they produced research highlighting the need for a <a href="https://bettertransport.org.uk/research/better-buses-reforming-bus-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bus service guarantee</a> – which would ensure all communities have a decent level of bus services – and a <a href="https://bettertransport.org.uk/research/better-bus-stops-creating-a-national-bus-stop-standard/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">national bus stop standard</a> – which would bring much needed improvements to bus stop shelters and information provision.</div>

<div>Buses are the most-used form of public transport in Britain; they are important to millions of people, including me. But bus cuts over time have left many communities isolated with services that are too infrequent or even non-existent, particularly in suburbs, small towns and rural areas. This means that residents are either stuck or are forced to drive – hurting household incomes, increasing congestion and contributing to the warming of the planet.  If you are serious about improving buses for everyone, I urge you to consider Campaign for Better Transport’s proposal for a bus service guarantee – a measure supported by 87% of people – ensuring that all communities have at least a minimum, reasonable level of bus service.</div>

<div>Bus stops are another issue for bus passengers like me. Many bus stops do not have comfortable bus shelters, and even more lack up-to-date timetables, let alone real time arrival displays. So, I support Campaign for Better Transport's call for the Department for Transport to set a national standard for bus stop infrastructure and information, as exists for railway stations. Improving waiting facilities and information at bus stops would help people use buses with confidence and increase bus use.</div>

<div>I hope you will consider the recommendations of these reports, and take steps to help to improve buses, and bus stops, across the country.</div>
